Imagine a change of perspective: walls enclose the streets instead of the buildings. The street becomes the city's interior. The windows offer us a view outside, into people's homes. Private lives take place there, behind those windows, outside the walls. Here, on the inside, in the street, is our shared space, public space. In Street the spectators and performer Floor van Leeuwen have an encounter with a homeless man who calls the street his home. A performance that sets the relationship between art and reality on edge, in which the spectator starts as a voyeur and ends up as an intimate guest. |
